The Biotech Research Center is a cooperative effort by researchers concerned with biotechnology research and education. Faculty, staff and students are open to collaborating on research projects and joining together for research symposiums, seminars and conferences. By working together toward the common goal of advancement of biotechnology, the members of the BRC have been able to expand the scope and impact of their work.

The Biotechnology Research center (BRC) is pleased to announce that Associate Professor Chandrashekhar P. Joshi has been elected by the BRC members to serve as the new director of the BRC. Professor Chung-Jui Tsai, who has served as the BRC director since August, 2004 (and as the interim since December, 2002), will step down from the position at the beginning of the new academic year. As stated in the BRC charter, the director serves a three-year, non-renewable term.

Research
Research projects at the BRC are funded by all major federal agencies, including DOE, NSF, NIH, USDA and various foundations, totaling over $8.3 million.
Graduate Students
Over 40 graduate students are conducting cutting-edge research in the life sciences, ranging from human health and computational disease mapping to crop and tree improvements.
